  • Bohemian Night/Open House: Our annual Bohemian Night celebration will take place TOMORROW, Thursday, February 16th. The festivities will begin in the Lower Elementary classroom from 5:30-6:00, then move to Upper Elementary from 6:15-6:45, and finish in the Middle School from 7:00-7:30. Refreshments will be served at 7:30.
  • Sedona Film Festival Field Trips: We have been invited to attend four different Film Festival movies next week; The Lost Medallion: The Adventures of Billy Stone , Sophie, 25 Hill, and Miss Representation (6th years only). Each movie begins at 9:30am at the Sedona Performing Arts Center at Red Rock High School, which we will walk to. Permissions slips are not needed.
  • Homework: Beginning next Friday, February 24th we will be sending home weekly homework packets with each student according to the following schedule:
        • Math packet assigned Friday 2/24, due Friday 3/2
        • Language Arts packet assigned Friday 3/2, due Friday 3/9
        • Writing packet assigned 3/9, due Friday 3/23
        • Math packet assigned Friday 3/23, due Friday 3/30
        • Language Arts packet assigned Friday 3/30, due Thursday 4/5
        • Writing packet assigned Thursday 4/5, due Friday 4/13
  • Babysitting & Movie Night Fundraiser: The 6th Years will hold a fundraiser on Friday, February 24th. Babysitting will take place from 5:00-9:00 for a fee of $25 for the first child and $5 for each additional child. This fee will include a spaghetti dinner, popcorn, water, and admission to the movie. There will be a $5 fee to attend just the movie, Puss and Boots. Seating will begin at 6:30pm and the movie will start at 6:50. There will be refreshments for sale. All proceeds will go to the 6th Year Road Trip to the Grand Canyon. More information to come.
  • Tip A Cop: Members of the Police Department will be hosting a 'Tip-A-Cop' fund raising event to help fund the annual Sedona Charter School 6th Grade field trip. Police Officers will serve patrons at Cafe Jose on Wednesday, February 29th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Class Plays: Save the date! UE class plays will take place Thursday, May 10th from 5:30-7:30pm.
  • President's Day Long Weekend: There is no school on Friday, February 17th or Monday, February 20th in honor of President's Day.


  • We would like to encourage students and/or their parents to first speak with their Advising Teacher should personal or academic issues arise. If necessary, the issue will then be taken to Marsha as Principal Educator and further action taken if needed.
  • We do not have a microwave available for students to heat up their lunch at school
  • Please send a reusable water bottle to school with your student to keep in their cubby
  • Students are encouraged to bring a snack to school to eat before lunch

Volunteer Opportunities

50 Parent/Guardian Volunteer Hours per year are required for each SCS student unless other arrangements are made with the Principal Educator. Below are the current volunteer opportunities for the UE classroom. Be sure to log your hours in the main office!

  • Parent Help Needed: We are looking for parent volunteers to help out with various tasks (tutoring students, grading, roving) within our classroom Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00-12:00 (or any increment of time between these hours). If you are interested, please contact us.
  • Classroom Library Organization: We need help organizing our classroom library which includes ordering and coding our wide variety of novels.
  • Laminating/Hole Punching: If you are available to help us with laminating during the school day, please let us know or drop by and check in with Marsha.
  • Friday Electives: We are in need of volunteers to run Friday electives from 2:00-3:00pm for next semester. If you can commit to the entire semester (April-June) and would like to lead one of the following classes or have an idea of your own, please email us.
