  • Spirit Week: The week of May 14th-18th is Spirit Week. Students are encouraged to dress up according to the following schedule:
    • Monday: Crazy Hair Day
    • Tuesday: Twin Tuesday
    • Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday
    • Thursday: PJ Day
    • Friday: Backwards Day
  • Equal Exchange Catalog Fundraiser: New Global Citizens have been doing a fundraiser to raise money to provide scholarships to students in the Quinghai Province of China through the Snowland Group. The fundraiser will end on Monday, May 7th. Money is due upon receipt of goods, which will be available by the last day of school and available througout the last week in May.
  • 6th Grade Research Presentations: The 6th years have been working on yearlong projects that will culminate in presentations between 8:30-9:00am from Monday, May 14th-Friday, May 18th.
  • 6th Grade Math Challenge: We will be participating in the 6th Year Math Challenge at Yavapai College in Prescott this Friday from 9:00-2:00. DRIVERS NEEDED!
  • Last Day of School Half Day: The last day of school, Friday, May 25th, will be a half day. Dismissal will be at 12:00pm.
  • End of Year Ceremonies: The end of year cermonies will take place as follows:
    • LE: Thursday, May 24th, 6:00pm
    • UE: Friday, May 25th, 11:00am
    • MS: Thursday, May 25th, 11:00am
  • Friday Afternoon Help: We are looking for help during electives from 1:00-2:00pm on Fridays. We would like someone to help supervise students at Woodworking Club and Art. 
  • Smoothies: This week will be the last smoothie order due to lack of interest. We have been partnering with Zainey's to sell smoothies for $5.00 each. Proceeds go to UE end of the year trips. This week's flavor is HUCKLEBERRY.
  • Make-up Talent Show: Join us next Friday, May 11th from 4:00-5:30 pm. Admission is $2.00 per person, and all proceeds will go to New Global Citizens. There will be judges, though no winners will be declared--this will simply be a showcase of talent. Please bring background music or instruments, if needed. Acts must be 3 minutes or less.  
  • Drivers Needed for 6th Year Friday Hikes: Please login to Bill's Science 456 website for up-to-date information. We also need drivers for the following hikes:
      • Bear Mountain: Thursday, May 3rd from 9:00am-3:00pm
      • Badger Springs: Friday, May 11th from 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Chaperones for End of Year Trips: The 4th and 5th years will be taking a number of trips on the last week of school (May 21st-25th) while the 6th years are in the Grand Canyon. If you would like to chaperone any of these trips, please let us know. Finalization of plans is currently being made.
  • Class Plays: Save the date! UE class plays will take place Thursday, May 10th. The 4th/5th year play will be from 5:30-6:15pm and, after a 15 minute intermission, the 5th/6th year play will be from6:30-7:45pm. Both plays will take place in the picnic area at school.
  • We would like to encourage students and/or their parents to first speak with their Advising Teacher should personal or academic issues arise. If necessary, the issue will then be taken to Marsha as Principal Educator and further action taken if needed.
  • We do not have a microwave available for students to heat up their lunch at school
  • Please send a reusable water bottle to school with your student to keep in their cubby
  • Students are encouraged to bring a snack to school to eat before lunch 

Volunteer Opportunities
    50 Parent/Guardian Volunteer Hours per year are required for each SCS student unless other arrangements are made with the Principal Educator. Below are the current volunteer opportunities for the UE classroom. Be sure to log your hours in the main office!

  • Parent Help Needed: We are looking for parent volunteers to help out with various tasks (tutoring students, grading, roving) within our classroom Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00-12:00 (or any increment of time between these hours). If you are interested, please contact us.
  • Classroom Library Organization: We need help organizing our classroom library which includes ordering and coding our wide variety of novels.
  • Laminating/Hole Punching/Editing: If you are available to help us with these tasks during the school day, please let us know or drop by.
