  • Class Plays: Save the date! UE class plays will take place Thursday, May 10th. The 4th/5th year play will be from 5:30-6:15pm and, after a 15 minute intermission, the 5th/6th year play will be from 6:30-7:45pm. Both plays will take place in the picnic area at school.
  • Spirit Week: The week of May 14th-18th is Spirit Week. Students are encouraged to dress up according to the following schedule:
    • Monday: Crazy Hair Day
    • Tuesday: Twin Tuesday
    • Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday
    • Thursday: PJ Day
    • Friday: Backwards Day
  • Equal Exchange Catalog Fundraiser: Orders will be available for pickup on the last day of school as well as the week of May 28th-June 1st.
  • 6th Grade Research Presentations: The 6th years have been working on yearlong projects that will culminate in presentations between 8:30-9:00am from Monday, May 14th-Friday, May 18th. Schedules have been emailed and a hardcopy has been given to students.
  • Last Day of School Half Day: The last day of school, Friday, May 25th, will be a half day. Dismissal will be at 12:00pm.
  • End of Year Ceremonies: The end of year cermonies will take place as follows:
    • LE: Thursday, May 24th, 6:00pm
    • UE: Friday, May 25th, 11:00am
    • MS: Thursday, May 25th, 11:00am
  • Make-up Talent Show: Join us this Friday, May 11th from 4:00-5:00 pm. Admission is $2.00 per person, and all proceeds will go to New Global Citizens. There will be judges, though no winners will be declared--this will simply be a showcase of talent. Please bring background music or instruments, if needed. Acts must be 3 minutes or less.  
  • Drivers Needed for 6th Year Friday Hikes: Please login to Bill's Science 456 website for up-to-date information. We also need drivers for the following hikes:
      • Badger Springs: Friday, May 11th from 9:00am-3:00pm
  • 4/5 End of Year Trips: The 4th and 5th years will be taking a number of trips on the last week of school (May 21st-25th) while the 6th years are in the Grand Canyon. If you would like to chaperone any of these trips, please let us know. A $50 fee per student is requested to cover the week's festivities.
    • Monday, May 21st: On campus, hike and picnic lunch
    • Tuesday, May 22nd: NAU High Ropes Course, lunch on campus, and camp out at Lo Lo Mai Springs 
    • Wednesday, May 23rd: Camp out at Lo Lo Mai Springs
    • Thursday, May 24th: Return from Lo Lo Mai Springs at noon, pickup at the school at 3:00pm
    • Friday, May 24th: UE awards ceremony at 11:00am, dismissal at 12:00pm
  • 4th Quarter Report Cards/Conferences: Friday, May 25th is the final day of the 4th quarter and all work must be submitted by then in order to count towards this semester's report cards. Conferences will be available upon request the week after school ends (May 28th-June 1st).
Reminders
  • The UE classroom closes at 3:30pm and all unsupervised students must report to the library or make other plans for supervision. We do not offer after-school childcare.

Volunteer Opportunities
    50 Parent/Guardian Volunteer Hours per year are required for each SCS student unless other arrangements are made with the Principal Educator. Below are the current volunteer opportunities for the UE classroom. Be sure to log your hours in the main office!

  • Parent Help Needed: We are looking for parent volunteers to help out with various tasks (tutoring students, grading, roving) within our classroom Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00-12:00 (or any increment of time between these hours). If you are interested, please contact us.
  • Classroom Library Organization: We need help organizing our classroom library which includes ordering and coding our wide variety of novels.
  • Laminating/Hole Punching/Editing: If you are available to help us with these tasks during the school day, please let us know or drop by.
